nordnorge ship to antartica, day 01 ushuaia

I tried to book a trip for Antarctica but was unsuccessful. It was too early.

Tips for booking trips to Antarctica:
For November, only long trips are available (>15 days). For December till February, some short trips are available (around 10 days). It's generally cheaper to book trips as late as possible. The cheapest one from last season was around US$1,400. The more expensive one were over US$10,000. The median was around US$2500. Small ships are usually better than big ships but are less comfortable. Smaller ships can have more landing and is less hazardous to the environment. Nord Norge is a big ship (>300 people). Generally, those small Russian scientific expedition ships are more adventurous.

What to see? Penguins, birds and ice and many others. Different seasons have different things to see. For November, it's the mating season (i.e. penguin porns). For December, it's the hatching season. More information can be found in the Antarctica Tourist Information Center near the pier (there's only one big pier near town center).

What to bring?
Antarctica in summer is usually warmer than Calgary in Winter. It's around 0 C. A few layers of sweater and a Gortex is sufficient.

Last minute Antartic Cruise can be booked from tourist agents around town like Rambo Sur, All Patagonia, Turismo de Campo etc. All of them should have their web sites (search googles).
