I have heard a common complaint of that the second and alpha words are hard to read on the metallic "titanium" color keyboard. I decided to buy one to check it out myself. The silver Alpha and yellow Diamond words are very bright and stand out, and the blue 2nd is completely readable unless in very poor lighting. Compared to the TI-84 Silver, the TI-89 Ti's Diamond and Alpha stand out way more than the green alpha of the TI-84 Silver, though the blue alpha is about the same. The screen is great, not tilted like some of the old TI-89's had it.

Another retailer may be cheaper by but from what I can see it is not the same calculator. This version is the titanium which has more memory that the regular Ti 89. My son's current calculator is the Ti 83+ silver edition. The memory has made all the difference. Will be upgrading to the TI-89 titanium in the next few weeks. Texas Instruments (through email) helped me select this as the correct next caluclator for High school AP calculus and Physics then off to college in engineering. Choose it over the TI 84+ Silver.

Ordering this item from Radio shack will save you about 10 bucks, yeah I know thats not much but college is expensive!!!`
