Eventually, I came across Digitalway's MPIO. I hate to admit it but I'm kind of a name brand person when it comes to electronics so I was a bit leery at even checking it out. But after some research, I realized that for the same cost, there is nothing else right now that is comparable to the features it offers. Upgradeable, it easily holds enough songs to keep me entertained while I jog or do schoolwork. Better yet, it combines my $50 Sony Sports Armband Radio with my $180 MiniDisc into one small unit that does both for half the cost and at a fraction of the size and weight. Programming FM stations onto the MPIO, which is done using the software, allowed me to put only the stations that I wanted. Reception is crisp and scanning through saved stations is quick. The earphones are comfy and the reception is very loud and clear. But best of all, unlike my MiniDisc, which I had to hold while running in order to avoid skipping, the MPIO has no moving parts, thus, eliminating skipping altogether. The only thing I can complain about is that instead of an armband, it comes with a black "leather" belt clip that is useful for running but could use another go around in the design department.
So far, I think this player is impressive and it seems everyone I meet thinks so as well. Random people will come up to me while I'm at the beach or walking to school and ask where I got it, frequently commenting on its super sleek design and diminutive size. Almost all are blown away at how little I paid for it and many seem psyched to have one for their own. My bro just ordered one after I told him I was tired of him borrowing mine. I recommend comparing prices before you buy but when I looked at other online distributors before purchasing mine, Amazon sold it for the least. Shipping is free but you'll get taxed during check out.
