I was a little skeptical having played Donkey Kong Country for SNES, but I have to tell you that Rare held up to its name. The mini games and multiplayer add that Gameboy feel, while the game itself is almost a direct copy of the original. The graphics aren't as sharp, but the ability to play DKC on the go is awesome, and now you can save in the middle of a level. If you're tired of Mario, DKC won't let you down.

If you are NOT an experienced gamer I would not recomend this game. In the beginning, it is very fun and exciting, but as the game goes along it gets to be imposible and because of this it is boring for unexperienced players who will be stuck. If you are a person who is good at video games, I would definatly recomend this game! You will enjoy the action and graphics, as well as the story line. If you break a barrel that can be found along the paths, you can also play as donkeykong jr., and if donkey kong dies this will be your only choice (for this level). I would say that the levels are the perfect size- not too long, and not to short. The sound is not too bad either. In this game you will need to swing from vines, jump, and defeat enemies, as well as find hidden golden animals (finding these is not esstensial to finishing the level, and is not required). If you are good at video games, go and buy it! If you are not, and usually get stuck, I would go and buy Sims Bustin' Out, and any of the Hamtaro games, as these are almost impossable to get stuck in!

Since this is one of the all time SNES greats, it is no surprise that "Donkey Kong Country" has made it's way onto the Gameboy Advance. It is perfect for the portable system, and one that pretty much any player can enjoy.

Keeping in the tradition of faithful ports of older games, the GBA version is exactly the same as the original. Everything, from the rubber tires to the enemies, and from the hidden banana hoards to the revolving barrels. Everything is here. Players who blistered their thumbs back in 1994 trying to get through some of the tougher stages will be especially happy about this. The graphics are still very impressive, although they are not as eye-popping on the small screen as they were on the television.

The extras included are a mixed bag. The new save feature (allowing you to save anywhere) and a new high score system is a big plus. So if you need to turn off the system quickly, you can save your progress fast and easy. However, the extra games provided are not very good. For starters, there is a fishing game included where you have a time limit to catch as many fish as you can. It gets old fast. There is also a dancing game with Candy Kong, which is both boring and excruciatingly hard. I have yet to try the multiplayer modes.

All I was looking for was a faithful port of the older game and, in that respect, I got exactly what I wanted. The uninspired extras (especially for such a popular title) do not deter me from recommending it to every GBA owner, but it is a downer for people looking for something a cut above the original.
