Throwdown is simply a wonderful inside view on what being a Mixed Martial Artist takes and how difficult it is to fight these guys. If you lay off the offense for a moment, your character taps out. if you want to force a KO on your opponent you have to work at it strenuously. Violence is not the major factor here. MMA combat is no more violent than boxing or hockey and nobody is trying to ban those sports. Throwdown accurately portrays MMA as a cross between wrestling and boxing. It has the strikes and strategy of Boxing's hard punches and wrestling's trategic grappling and joint locking. Each character has a specialty and a weakness, just like the real thing. However, because the GameCube can't learn from the user, the weaknesses are never fixed and the strengths never weaken. All in all, the price makes this a very desirable game. It may not take a great deal of time to become the champion or win the tournament but it will give you a great sense of what it is to be a fighter.

With a lot of effort and determination, your child just might learn what it takes to be the most vicious fighter of them all. Whether it's a kick to the stomach, a good ol' fashioned body slam or repeated blows to the head, this game has it all for you. Don't worry if your kid doesn't enjoy fighting that much. The taste can slowly be acquired if enough hours of gameplay are put into it. Perhaps those children who can't stomach mindless violence might at least get a kick out of watching their player roll around on the ground with another man while wearing the skimpiest of shorts.

Overall, I would highly recommend this gaming title for everyone in your family. As you may have noted, this title is NOT rated M for Mature. It is simply rated T for Teen because beating someone into unconsciousness is something that doesn't deserve to be appreciated only by adults. Our teens deserve to experience that kind of joy as well.
