The is the pseudo-sequel to Rare's original first-person shooter masterpiece, "Goldeneye 007." Since Rare no longer has a license for James Bond, they decided to create their own character and story. The result is "Perfect Dark." It uses an updated version of Goldeneye's game engine, and as a result, plays in much the same way as Goldeneye. Believe me, this is not a bad thing! Some new things were added since Goldeneye: each weapon has a secondary function (like a machine gun that seconds as a grenade launcher), you can fall off ledges where there is no railing, and the whole multiplayer setup is completely new. It is much more customizable this time around. Ever want to play one-hit kills (License to Kill in Goldeneye) with teams? Now you can, plus much, much more. This game, in my opinion, did NOT live up to its hype. It is a great game, but it is not the best game ever created by any means. It is only marginally better in certain areas than Goldeneye. Example: multiplayer customization. It is also marginally worse in some areas. Example: level design. Trust me, I'm not saying its a bad game. Goldeneye was one of the best selling games of all time, and even though its three years old, people still talk about it, and will be for a long time. To conclude, if you are more interested in a futuristically styled game, including weapon design and function, with excellent multiplayer customization (you can do virtually whatever you want), Perfect Dark is the game for you. If you prefer a more realistic experience and want to see the world through the eyes of James Bond, albeit at the cost of multiplayer customization and awesome power of some of the Perfect Dark weapons, but with the added bonus of the quintiscential collection of multiplayer levels, Goldeneye is sure to please. They are both excellent games in their own right. I own both and love them both. I will never part with either.

Well, was it worth the wait? Definitely! Perfect Dark is simply the best shooter bar none on the N64 and a very worthy successor to GoldenEye. I can't think of enough superlatives to describe how impressed I am with this game. Right off the bat I will point out the few things that I didn't care for. There definitely is a problem with clipping and framerates, the latter being obvious in areas crowded with characters. It does hamper gameplay but how long would it take the game to be released if Rare worked on this endlessly? It's a part of the game you accept when the true awesomeness of the rest of it unfolds. The graphics, subtitles and sound can be a little muddy at times as well but seem confined to the cut scenes. I found the controls to be a little frustrating, at least to me. I found it very hard to change weapons and such on the fly and aiming can be tough but hopefully with practice I'll improve. In truth, in real-life a super agent would face such obstacles as well. The game feels very familiar. I felt pretty much at home as it does mimic GoldenEye in many ways, even the music to some degree. The multiplayer mode is simply the best ever. You can configure everything right down to the music. Absolutely amazing and almost more fun than the actual one-player missions. The options are endless and best yet can be saved to use over and over in the future. The one-player mode is no slouch but perhaps a little too easy on the "Agent" mode but the challenge picks up considerably in the higher modes. There is a feeling of suspense at every corner and the music only enhances it. I think Perfect Dark will go down as one of the best games of all-time and will be remembered for many years to come.

Perfect Dark is a superior and I agree with one of the reviewers...ERRRR...It...Does beat halo..I can't believe I said that. This game had brilliant well made graphics of its time.

It has over 40 weapons! Innovative Counter-Op Mode!

You play as this Hot spy named Joanna Dark...And boy this woman dark as she hides and go seeks aiming for what her missions are and completeng them when told.

You shoot through walls, Guid Rockets by remote and cloak yourself to slip by unnoticed...Thats awesome...

This game Got a 9.9 out of 10 from Gamespot...thats a pretty hard game site to get a 10...This game almost pulled it through...It is a pain with the Expansion Pak...It costs alot...Well it did when I baught it, which was about the time the game came out...

It is Hands Down The Best N64 game you can find....Get this masterpiece and play it for all it's worth....It's also a very hard game too...Well I found it hard...But over all it's one hell of a ride...

It's very fun and innovative...It has a flavor that not alot of FPS have..I think this game ranks up with Half life...God I wish Nintendo made a remake out of this...Rare is very good at what it does...Like...Which I also thought was the best video game ever made, Conkers BFD..That had some flavor in it...I hope Rare keeps it up and I Really wanna see how Perfect Dark ZERO does On the Xbox
