Max Payne, from Rockstar and Remedy Entertainment, isn't just a great game. It's a compassionate and suspenseful drama with plently of killing to satisfy any action fan. Payne, a lonely-do-nothing kind of man is surprised to find out the gangsters who murdered his wife and child in cold blood three years ago are smuggling a very addictive drug into the country. Armed with such weapons as Dual Ingrams, Desert Eagles and Pump Action Shotguns, Payne starts his own one man war against these gangsters with several people helping him. The game is a fast roller coaster ride and keeps you glued to the screen. Bullet Time, which is perhaps the greatest part of the game,allows to kill the gangsters in slow motion and watch as their blood sprays all over the wall. With Bullet Time, every minute you feel like you're in the Matrix. The game features a wide variety of weapons and a lot of levels and gangsters. The game offers hours and hours of gameplay and is incredible. However, there are several cons I'd like to address.

1. The game is way too easy and could be beaten in half a month. There's no extremely hard puzzles and it's a basic shoot-em-up game. For example, out of five doors only one opens and all you have to do is climb staircases to other floors and shoot the bad guys there.

2. The voice-acting is horrible.

3. There is a cutscene in the beginning of every Chapter. If you die and start over, you have to watch this cutscene over and over again and you can't skip it.

4. The blood doesn't look as realistic as it does in other shoot-em-up games.

5. When you shoot at bad guys, they all lose blood the same way. After they're dead, you can still shoot em and get new blood but the old blood will disappear.

6. Graphics are OK, not horrible but not great.

7. Though this is a dark and violent game, I just don't seem to liek games where you only play in the dark. There's not one level of daylight and you got to wonder: What's Max doing during that time?

Despite it's cons, the game is a must buy for fans of action and adventure game. There's hundreds and hundreds of gangsters to shoot up and you can do some stuff you can't do in other games such as turn on TVs, listen to the radio, and get sodas from vending machines.

Max Payne is a must get. It's an awesome drama and deserves to be in the hands of every good gamer.

Max Payne is by far the greatest action game that I have ever had the pleasure of playing on my PS2. In fact, the game initially shocked me the first time I gave it a whirl. It seemed as soon as I hit the power button I was running for cover as the enemies were large in number, and didn't "take turns" firing away at me like most other games.

It was amusing to hear foes (mostly gangster types) engaging in "small talk" just around the corner in various parts of the game. Impressively enough, they would often hear my approach and send out scouts to dispose of me at once.

Luckily for me, I usually got the better end of the deal. This is not to say that I didn't have to hit the reset button a couple of times (OK, a lot of times!). In Payne, you are always outnumbered. Quick reflexes and the ability to scope out an area in seconds are your only friends. I guess I really don't need to elaborate on the slow motion (bullet-time) feature of the game that makes this gem unique. Let's just say that you'll be thankful that the game developers included it, and that you will be using it QUITE A BIT!

The graphics and storyline were well done, and I really felt like I was fighting my way through NYC alone. The use of still shots (reminded me of comic book format), and Max's own narration on things gave this game a "detective element" sort of feel. He even talked in the typical detective sort of slang that we've all heard before.

The only part of the game play that disappointed me in the least was at times the controls became just a tad awkward when I had to travel in a straight line in narrow areas. Sure I adjusted after awhile, but it made for some frustrating moments for me throughout the game. The load times were also just a little bit longer than I would like to have endured, but I can appreciate why such good graphics needed a little more time to show up on screen.

In all, Max Payne is another one of those games that I have to rave about. I enjoy this game immensely, as it has it all ... action, action, and more action. Enjoy!

I didnt buy this game. I borrowed it from my uncle. He said he couldn't figure out the controls. So since he wasn't ever going to play it, i decided to borrow it from him. I did not like the controls. I can't ever seem to get used to games that use both sticks, where the one on the left moves the guy forward and backward, but doesn't turn the guy left or right, he straifes, and the other one on the right makes him turn and moves the camera angle up and down. It anoyes the hell outa me. Why cant one stick be used to move the guy all around and the other has him straife and moves the camera angle.

At first I really liked this game, but one level got me to hate this game. I dont remember which one it was but it was one of the levels towards the end of the game. It was a dream with a very anoying baby crying and it was a very confusing maze I just couldn't seem to beat. That baby was so anoying, it wouldn't stop crying. So I stopped playing the game. I just gave up. My uncle kinda wanted it back by this time even though he probably wouldn't ever play it.

All in all, this game is alright, the graphics kinda stink, the blood kinda stinks, the weapons were cool, and the puzzles weren't too hard (Except for the dream, that darn baby, AHHH!!!) and i give it 3 stars.
