This is a deplorable piece of work from a sad, talentless hack. With any luck, this will be last time Nick Hasted is ever asked to write about important figures in music, such as Eminem, whom I love. He simply lacks the skill or flair required to tell the story in a pacy, engaging and believable fashion.

This book was a very interesting insight into the mind of Eminem. With thorough details into his childhood traumas and experiences with racism and bullying, you can begin to empathise with Eminem and understand the controversy of his lyrics and why he so extreme with his music. I enjoyed reading this book and now appreciate Eminem and his principles.

This was my first book about his life and it is was very readable, looked precise and honest and I read it in 2 days -very quick read for my standards.

I'm 36 years old and I feel a bit strange to have this strong interest in Eminem but, you know...

In 2002, after Eminem released his LP, "The Eminem Show", The world thought they had seen everything that the Detroit Rapper could do...Boy, They were wrong! After being absent for almost 2 years, we all had thought Eminem's reign of terror was over. In October of 2004, The radio played that familar voice yet again! Could Marshall be up to his usual tricks?? was the question on everyone's mind when "Just Lose It" Played. Eminem delivers a mature performance on "Like Toy Soldiers" , where he addresses all the beef and drama in the game right now and the infamous Murder Inc.(The Inc.)/G-Unit beef between Shady/Aftermath artist, 50 Cent, and Ja Rule. As well as, the beef between Em and The Source Co-Owner Benzino. I believe that this album changed eminem's outlook and matured him alot. I also want to announce that Eminem is recording with my label, to release a new mixtape called, "Detroit City Mixxtape" which includes a remix of Toy soldiers" featuring my artist, 2 Sweet.

I watched this film for two reasons: to try to understand the popularity of rap and to see if Eminem could act. The film succeeded on both counts. First, I learned to respect the musical genre more than I had before, coming to appreciate the essential character of the lyrics and picking up a basic vocabulary. As for acting, I thought Marshall Mathers did a fine job. While on paper the plot is a familiar one, about a young person wanting to move beyond their surroundings and better themselves using their own talents, the film still worked because Mathers aka Eminem aka Slim Shady has a charismatic screen presence. Like Sean Penn or Frank Sinatra, he is a thinking presence and fun to watch on the screen. The entire supporting cast is excellent, with Kim Basinger as B-Rabbit's troubled mother, Brittany Murphy as fellow traveller Alex and Mekhi Phifer as the friend we all wish we had. The B actors are solid and the club extras play a big role, bringing a real heartbeat to the rap battles at The Shelter. Which brings up the music. It's an excellent soundtrack -- a mix of classic rap by Old Dirty Bastard and many others, battle songs by street rappers, and a sense of the title song as a work in progress. I defy anyone who loves music to listen to the song 8 Mile and not enjoy it. It's strong, it's hopeful, and besides, it rocks.

The dvd extras are terrific, especially the 23-minute rap battle between Eminem and the four winners of a competition between 130+ extras; it was fun to listen to what the street rappers came up with slamming Eminem and what Em improvised back. He's very funny. One also appreciates that he is hard working and a decent guy. Also interesting in the extras is hearing from director Curtis Hanson (LA Confidential) which makes me especially sorry there's no commentary track. There is, however, a 10-minute featurette featuring Hanson and Mathers, song information and the "Superman" music video.

All in all, if you're interested in Eminem, rap, coming-of-age stories, films about urban America, good acting or films in which music plays a large role, this is a film you could definitely enjoy.

When an Ambitious song-writer/rapper named Rabbit (Eninem) tries to make it on his own without the support of his hard-working poor dead beat mother (Oscar-Winner:Kim Basinger). Hanging out with his friends-Future (Mekhi Phifer), the generous, high-spiritred rap-contest organzier and Mc. The dreamer Sol (Onar Benson Miller). The Scolding Activist (De'Angelo Wilson). The gun-toting doofus Cheddar Bob (Evan Jones). His friends do give him the courage, he needs. Everything changes when Rabbit meets a couragerous woman (Brittany Murphy) and when Rabbit finally takes a stand with his hidden talent.

Directed by Curtis Hanson (The Hand that Rocks the Cradle, The River Wild, L.A. Confidential) and Extremely well written by Scott Silver (Who wrote the awful-The Mod Squad) makes this film a Real One of a Kind. This is a excellent incendiary Hip-Hop fable. This film is somewhat loosely based on the life of Eninem-a.k.a. Marshall Matters. Eninem and Phifer are the stand-outs in this film. Basinger & Murphy gives also fine performances. This flick also has a great Hip-Hop/Rap Soundtrack. DVD has an sharp anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1) transfer and an strong-Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound (Also in DTS). DVD has Behind the Scenes footage, Never Seen Before Footage, Music Video and more. This was an instant Box Office Hit. It's also One of the Highest Grossing films of 2002. Do not miss this strong film. This Recieve an Oscar for Best Original Song. Super 35. Grade:A.

8 Mile is a classic HipHop film. All the stars from Eminem to Mekhi to Basinger to Xzibit's cameo to great. This is a modern day rise to the top film. I'm just pissed that you haters can't see the greatness of this film.

By the way, Belly was tight but it wasn't as good(as far as acting) as 8 Mile.
