I've noticed that people are quick to rate something off of one song, or a couple of songs that they hear the first time, never giving them a second listen. This CD required me to listen to certain songs over and over, but now it has caught on to me, and I definitely would recommend it to anyone looking for a good listen. I love this CD with all my heart, and I rank it up there with Alicia Keys debut, and even the Miseduation of Lauryn Hill. People say that Nelly Furtado is a one-hit wonder (yeah right!) and that she wont survive in this fast-paced industry, but I totally disagree. I mean, even though the "Powerless (Say What You Want)" single isn't doing as well on the charts as it could be, the album itself is so much more worth the listen. From a deep listen, you'll find that the true gems of this CD are "Explode" (my personal favorite), "Build You Up", "Saturdays", and "One Trick-Pony". Her acoustic performance on 'Saturdays' is so raw and introspective, that its rare to find such a soul-baring performance of that caliber these days. I personally thank Nelly Furtado for making such a fascinating album and such a beautiful listen.

This album is awesome. Get it, enjoy it. Artists like Nelly Furtado are rare. Her voice, her lyrics, her song-writing ability, and her sense of style are just awesome. Now, onto the songs:

3. Explode: 10/10. Just a fantastic song. I can't stop listening to this one.
4. Try: 10/10...beautiful song showcasing Nelly's voice
5. Fresh off the boat: 9/10. Solid rhythms, really picks up near the end.
6. Forca: 10/10 Great song
7. Saturdays: 9/10 I really love this short song
8. Picture Perfect: 9/10 Slower song, very good
9. The Grass is Green: 9/10 Really good
10. Build you Up: 10/10 Fantastic love song
11. Island of Wonder: 9/10 Great imagery in this song
12. Childhood Dreams: 10/10 Longer song that Nelly really shines in

All in all, this is really a great album, and you'll be doing yourself a favor if you buy it.

05. FRESH OFF THE BOAT: A very cool and beat song...it haves some portuguese lyrics...and it is repetitive -9-
06. FORÇA: The best song on the album...this song gives to the album the name it is "FOLK" i love it -10-
07. THE GRASS IS GREEN: A very cool song, at the start it has a weird sound -10-
08. PICTURE PERFECT: Another slowly song...very cool and relax you -10-
09. SATURDAYS: This song it like acoustic, very cool only the voices with the guitar i love it -10-
10. BUILD YOU UP: I don't like this very much... -8-
11. ISLAND OF WONDER: In this song, Caetano Veloso sings with Nelly Furtado, very cool -9-
12. CHILDHOOD DREAMS: It sound like church music with the organ, it is very long and sometimes boring -8-

Rescheduled to October 2, 2001 -- less than a month after the September 11th attacks -- this live event became urgent in a way its organizers probably hadn't planned. For me, it was a profound part of the post-9/11 healing process; I've watched it repeatedly since it originally aired, and it never fails to inspire.

The concert recalls the transcendent messages of a great fallen poet, and is a fitting tribute to his music. The diverse collection of popular musicians and entertainers mirror John Lennon's pure, powerful words and honest expression. As a result, this was one of New York City's best and most-earnest responses to the 9/11 attacks -- far better than the "Concert for New York City" which aired three weeks later, despite the fact that Paul McCartney does not appear here.

Truth be told, a few musical performances are a bit uneven, and the all-star band occasionally overwhelms the vocals... but Kevin Spacey's street-smart hosting skills and his astounding performance of "Mind Games" are not to be missed.

Come Together is an essential contextualizer for anyone who connects with John Lennon's ideals. Given our place and time in history, this concert is a wonderfully sublime guide to the days that lie ahead. Highly recommended.

It's clear that this is a John Lennon "after the Beatles" Tribute and Sean and Mama Yoko Lennon are at the helm of the production. There are NO clips of Lennon's Beatle days. With a backdrop of images, there are plenty of Yoko and Baby Sean. To answer one reviewer's question, this is why former Beatles were not there.

I'm not sure John Lennon could have asked for a better tribute. With an array of heavy hitters from the movie industry expressing their thoughts about Lennon and his quest for a non-violent society, and with music's elite performances, this is a magical night at the very attractive Radio City Music Hall.

Some riveting performances include Marc Anthony doing "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". He is dynamic onstage; Shelby Lynne exudes such emotional energy to the powerful and meaningful "Mother"; "Instant Karma" done with great coupling of Nelly Furtado and Dave Stewart. One of my favorites is Stone Temple Pilots with a rousing performance and hitting those high notes and sung in the same key for "Revolution."

More highlights of the evening, the great gospel singer Yolanda Adams! She gave a different voice to "Imagine" and was accompanied on piano by Billy Preston. Dave Matthews can never go wrong with his solo "In My Life." The sweet and delicate voice of Natalie Merchant soothed the audience in "Nowhere Man." And what an appropo setting, New York's Strawberry Fields, for the at-location shot "Strawberry Fields Forever" enhanced by the lovely voice of Cindy Lauper. We heard a refreshing rendition by Craig David for "Come Together."

Kevin Spacey performing "Mind Games" was ok, considering many didn't know he could sing. Also excellent performances by Lou Reed "Jealous Guy", Alanis Morisssette doing "Dear Prudence." Even Sean Lennon was quite entertaining in the footsteps of his famous father for "This Boy" and "Julia."

The weakest moment was for "Across the Universe" with Rufus Wainwright, Moby and Sean Lennon. Wainwright sounds great solo, but the deep voice of Moby creating distraction and Sean Lennon isn't heard at all. If you don't know this song by the title, the lyrics are: ....nothing's going to change my world...nothing's going to change my world...

The grand finale said it all!! "Give Peace a Chance" and "Power to the People."

I've been a Beatle fan since my high school days in the early 60's. John and George were always my favorites. I've heard some good artists do good renditions of some of their songs, but what I never heard were so many Lennon songs done so poorly by so many muscian/singers at one sitting. Who chose these people? And who picked the house band? Frankly, I found most of the performances an insulting tribute to John's music. Many songs I wouldn't have recognized if it weren't for the words, which I know so well. The concert was a huge disappointment to me and I'm glad I rented it so I can take it back because it isn't something I'd ever watch again. The only redeeming quality to the concert were some of the video clips and words of John I hadn't heard before. I've got a huge Beatle collection, but this is one item I don't need.
